Dan Hockett’s Open Heart Surgery & Recovery while Jay Day Throws Him under the Bus with a Fake Scandal

Dan, with all the plumbing, in recovery after aortic heart valve replacement surgery

Falcon,

First I want to thank everyone for their support and well wishes as I underwent Open Heart Surgery to replace my failing Aortic Valve. Knowing that people care really helps as I spend the next few months recovering from this life changing surgery.

After spending a week in the hospital post surgery I was sent home to continue the healing process that my surgeon says will take from 3 to 6 months for a full recovery. In the mean time I am limited to lifting no more than 5-pounds per arm which prevents me from holding the camera I use to photograph our student athletes for at least a few months. If all goes well, I should be back on the sidelines with camera in hand sometime during basketball season.

So imagine my surprise when I find out I’m being used as a campaign issue by School Board Write-In Candidate Jay Day. Jay Day has been proclaiming as well as posting on his Facebook page that I was somehow involved in a “…sex club scandal cover-up.” I can only guess that this is Jay Day’s attempt to shock people in to voting for him.

Let me be clear, there was no sex club that I am aware of and certainly no scandal or cover-up. Anyone who knows me knows that I would never allow anything like that to happen. Jay Day’s “…sex club scandal cover-up” is a complete falsehood – a lie and an attack on my reputation perpetrated by a school board candidate in order to garner him a few votes on Election Day. An absolutely disgusting act.

Thank you for letting me clear the air and set the record straight.

Sincerely,

Dan Hockett – President

West Burlington School Board
