Grassley: We Will Follow ‘Biden Rules,’ No SCOTUS Vote in 2016

Click here: “Justice Scalia’s death marks the first time a sitting Supreme Court justice has passed away in a presidential election year in 100 years,” Grassley, chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee, said.
Chairman Grassley made clear that he intends to follow then Senator Joe Biden’s Rules if President Barack Obama makes a Supreme Court nomination.
In 1992, then Senator Joe Biden “emphasized that in four vacancies that arose during a presidential election year, the president exercised restraint and withheld from making a nomination until after the election,” Grassley declared. He added, “One of those presidents was Abraham Lincoln.”

How Obama Denied Conservative Judges a Vote

Click here: Conservative nominees were blocked from 4 to 6 years

Born in segregated Alabama, Janice Rogers Brown had been a leftist like Obama before becoming conservative. When Obama rose to denounce the respected African-American jurist for her political views it had been almost a full two years since President Bush had nominated her in the summer of ’03.

Obama complained that Judge Janice Rogers Brown, who had gone to segregated schools and become the first African-American woman on the California Supreme Court, was guilty of “an unyielding belief in an unfettered free market.”
