Curious,
It’s too late to change now. Plus we DO carry news and, on occasion, we carry Burlington, New London, Danville, Notre Dame, and Mediapolis sports.

Falcon,
This was posted to the WB School’s Facebook;
I was working the ambulance last night at Keokuk for the football game against your school. There was an adult and his 2 grandkids(one of the coaches 2 kids) and 4 other girls from West burlington that decided to pick up water bottles left by people on the ground and brought them to us. We gave the 4 girls a couple of trash bags and they went all over the grassy area picking up the trash. One of the girls.told me that she didn’t want keokuk stadium to look bad so she was picking the trash up. The girls that continued to pick the trash up couldn’t of been more.then 8 or 9. This to me was amazing that they decided to do this and wasn’t even from keokuk. Amazing little girls and adult that picked up. I just wanted to let you all know how amazing this was to see and tell them all thank you. And to the kids parents thank you for raising your kids with respect for.others and others property. I never got the girls names or the man and the other 2 little girls.
A BIG Thank you to whoever went above and beyond after the Keokuk football game!
Falcon,
I’d like to encourage voters to write-in Dan Hockett for West Burlington School Board on Tuesday, December 2nd. Remember to fill in the oval after writing in Dan’s name. The oval MUST be filled in for your vote to count.

2014 IOWA CODE/TITLE VII EDUCATION AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS/SUBTITLE 6 SCHOOL DISTRICTS/CHAPTER 282 SCHOOL ATTENDANCE AND TUITION/282.18 Open enrollment.
b. For the school year commencing July 1, 1989, and each succeeding school year, a parent or guardian residing in a school district may enroll the parent’s or guardian’s child in a public school in another school district c. Every school district shall adopt a policy which defines the term “insufficient classroom space” for that district.
The only factor which can legally be used to determine the ‘open enrollment eligibility’ of a student is “sufficient classroom space”.
No other discriminating discernments may be used.
If the schools of the West Burlington District are overcrowded to the point where “immediate” action is required then I believe it is because the School Board has failed to review this “classroom space” criteria as compelled by law.
Before we vote to invest $6.6 million dollars over the next 2 decades I believe a thorough, and comprehensive discussion of what sufficient classroom space in WB is.
The 2014 enrollment count shows there are more non-citizens in our schools than citizens. According to an article from the Hawkeye on 11/18/14, there are currently 450 open enrolled and 430 resident students. How did this happen? Is this what the citizens of WB want?
It used to be that if you wished your student to attend WB schools, then you needed to reside in West Burlington. This was a contributing factor to property values in WB being higher than neighboring communities. Just one more perk to living in WB was our very fine school district. You want trash removed twice a week? Move to WB. You want good streets plowed quickly and efficiently? Move to WB. You want a smaller classroom for your kids to learn in? Move to WB.
This is no longer the case and I disagree with the direction in which our school board is taking us.

Boil Order?
Falcon,
I was surprised to not see anything pertaining to the boil order for West Burlington on your web site. I visit the site everyday and find it useful and informative. I think the city should have something in place similar to what the our school system has in place to notify teachers and students of important notifications. We did not now of the boil order until the 10:00 pm TV news last night. I have seen and reported water line breaks within two blocks of our residences and never heard of any boil orders issues. One as recent as two weeks ago and got me to wondering, what is the requirement for a boil order?
Ray
Ray,
Unfortunately we never received a notice of boil order from the city. City Hall knows our email address, but for some reason they neglected to send it to us. We would be more than happy to post it.

Falcon,
You do a great job with your pictures in all the sports on your page. And I want to thank you for covering the Nikes. I would assume that you have numerous pictures to choose from. Keep up the good work.
And this is for ‘Basketball fan’. I am the grandparent of one of those boys. Once again Falcon thanks for covering the Nikes even though you do not have to.

Falcon,
Tell ‘Basketball Fan’ to scroll down there are several other pictures of players. Shame on whoever for placing such a post. With this note and the recent letter to the Hawkeye you might just as well stop covering the Nikes! Those young men contribute enormously every game! Tell them to check out the stats.

Falcon,
Could you put pictures of the other players beside the two that are always being put in from Notre Dame. Dunking the ball is not the whole game. There are others on the team that play and sometimes score better! Please give all the players a chance to have their pictures on this page. Thank you!
